Sr. Packaging Designer, Creative Services / KN Karen Neuburger

KN Ltd, the licensing and marketing division of the KN Karen Neuburger brand, is seeking a full-time Sr. Packaging Designer to support our Creative Services Department at our San Rafael-based office (15 min. drive from Golden Gate Bridge or 3 min. from Richmond/San Rafael Bridge). The successful candidate will report directly to the
V.P. of Marketing.

Summary: The Sr. Designer will be responsible for creative concepts and development of multiple design projects ranging from product packaging to brand collateral. The Sr. Designer should have experience in high-end intimate apparel or fashion, as well as hands on design skills for packaging. This is a senior level packaging design position for a candidate who is able to work independently while collaborating with a close-knit team and have the ability to perform in a fast paced environment.
Job Functions
• Create design solutions and direction from conceptual stage through completion.
• Develop new, compelling creative brand and packaging concepts that are brand appropriate.
• Ability to understand business objectives – manage brand voice within brand strategy.
• Provide creative perspective of latest trends in design & packaging and the ability to apply trends that are brand appropriate.
• Provide creative leadership for the brand style guides.
• Possess ability to thrive in a busy environment; reacting quickly to shifting priorities with a willingness to “do what it takes” to meet deadlines when needed.
• Work closely with senior management.
• Manage production resources internally and externally.
• Adhere to file naming conventions, proofing and approval procedures, time management and file management standards.
• Build 3-d comps as necessary for presentations or approvals.
• Solid understanding of digital mechanical files.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• 7+ years of relevant design and art direction experience in packaging and branding.
• Excellent design and typography sense.
• Meticulous attention to detail, proven ability to implement creative solutions.
• Self-directed, collaborative, responsible and resourceful.
• Ability to multi-task and troubleshoot in fast paced environment.
• Excellent sense of design, layout, color and typography.
• Must have a proven track record of managing projects, budgets, timelines and outside contractors/freelancers.
• Possess a strong, creative design portfolio.
• Thorough understanding of printing processes.
• Solid mastery of Adobe Creative Suite 3 (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign & Acrobat).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Powerpoint and Word).
• Mac computer experience.
• A Bachelors degree in related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
